Savoy ’81 is professor of environmental studies and geology at Mount Holyoke College.

Described as a “sui generis creation, wherein John McPhee meets James Baldwin,” Trace won the 2016 American Book Award (from the Before Columbus Foundation) and was a finalist for the PEN American Open Book Award.
